  2. I moved to the DC area in 1991, just in time for the Redskins last Super Bowl season. To experience the homer-rish, cheerleader local media in full “bandwagon” mode is a horror that growing up in Philadelphia and then living in New York had not prepared me for. Late in the 1991 season, Joe Gibbs had the Skins tack on a late field to rub it in in a 23-0 win over the Eagles, as retribution for the “body bag game” the year before.
    I silently cursed the Redskins at that point and hoped I’d get to see them fall very fall. Never knew I had actual cursing power.
